where are you located?
Long Island N.Y.
if you were closer to DC I'd be willing to work a deal on using mine -- LI is a long way from DC -- Go to Harbor Freight and buy one of their nibblers for $30 to cut what you need to brake -- best deal for occasionsl use -- Makita/Bosch nibblers are $300 plus -- did a copper roof this summer and 34 windows (earlier) wtih nibbler and brake -- both work like a charm
is the pro cut-off worth the investment?.
I dont think so, unless you've got a helper to hold the off fall or you're just cutting thin strips. I haven't used it with aluminum, just copper and I think it's worthless. I also think using a nibbler for finish cuts is about the same as using a sawzall to cut crown mould. Buy a good utility knife and a container of heavy duty blades and just rip in the brake. I've got a Tapco Max with stand and wheels that I've hardly used I'd sell, but I'm in KY.
Scissors cut paper. Rock breaks scissors. Paper wraps rock.
I think a ProMax is more than i need; what would the price on that machine be.
I think I paid $1800.00 for it. We only used it once - took it up on the scaffold when we were doing a courthouse dome - and its been in the garage ever since. I'd probably sell it for $1200.00.Scissors cut paper. Rock breaks scissors. Paper wraps rock.
Can you send photograph? What size is it?What would it cost to truck it to zip 11757.I have a Tapco catalog on page 5 is that your brake? Iam very interested .[email protected]Edited 1/31/2005 8:33 am ET by budweiser

Do you still have the break, iam interested
bud.... i'd buy the cut-off wheel if you're doing aluminum coil stock..
we have a slitter that i bought used.. but if i didn't have a slitter i'd definetly buy the cut off wheel..
found one in a snow bank last soring.. sold it to a guy on BT.. if he's still around he could tell you about it..
reason i sold it .. i've got the other brand... and the tapco cut-off doesn't work on it
If you still want a small brake I found this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41957&item=3872407113&rd=1

I have a Tapco 8½' ProII with the stand. It is about 10 yrs old but in good shape.
I have been thinking of upgrading to the 19" deep model, so if you are interested, I would let it go for $700. ( about 1200 new)
I am in upper Westchester

I have a 19" deep Tapco in great shape I'd let go for $1000 if you pay delivery.
I'm in western Wisconsin. I have the manual and video that came with.

how old? which model? Why ya want to sell it?
Jay-
I bought the brake in summer of 2003 to do a couple jobs that went from a couple windows to an entire house of corners and friezes. I have used it sparingly since then, but do have some upcoming uses planned. It is the Tapco 19" depth model, aluminum and orange. I don't have the papers handy at the moment. I recently took a job with a custom builder and they have a brake available to me whenever I need. I do hate to let it go, but money is tight and I could use all I can get. My priorities have changed lately, with family etc. and I don't plan on being as busy anymore. As I said, I hate to let the brake go, but I also hate to see it not get used. If it wasn't crappy & rainy I'd take a picture. If you are interested I will hopefully tomorrow.
