With apologies for posting this Q..
Will something like Professional DrainoMax dissolve washing machine lint buildup in the drain ?
Want to try this before moving the machine and dismantling the drain/trap assembly for snaking.
Thanks for any insight.

no, physically remove the clog
Try one of those bladders that fit in the pipe and hook up to the water line. They will blast it loose normally. Make sure you aren't blasting water up the tub or sink drain instead of to the lateral.

I have seen too many horror stories with those to reccommend them in a case like this. One of my friends recently made the Paul Harvey news when a hotel he was staying in had an "episode" with these. Cost the hotel thousands. Rats! I gotta sell my entire collection of Fine Homebuilding magazine. Issues 1 through 150! So I decided to put it up on eBay. They are being sold in lots of 10. All lots start at 99 cents. So get on in there and pick yourself up a bargain or two...

I'd try it in my own house. But you have to know your plumbing, because the water will come out somewhere, and that may where you least want it to.

I guess it depends on where the clog is located.
I'm hoping not far from the standpipe.
I'll study it a bit more to determine if there's even a remote chance that it could end up backing up a vent/drain into the upper levels.
I do have one of those balloon/waterhose gizmos that hasn't seen action since I bought it.....about 7 years ago !
Still in its original (opened) package.
test it first to make sure the rubber isn't rotten.Rats! I gotta sell my entire collection of Fine Homebuilding magazine. Issues 1 through 150! So I decided to put it up on eBay. Thanks for the warning -
It still looks new as the day I bought it and there's no sign of deterioration.
Drain King Model 186 with a caution not to use it in toilets.
It does mention using in washing machine lines.
Can't wait to give it a try, but very carefully.
