water inlet 1 1/2″ from street -upgrade?
I have a 1 1/2″ maybe larger galv pipe with a shut off bringing water into my home and since it is 100 years old and now that I own it I see the water pressure slowing down what would be the proper way to upgrade this system?
If I have to be without water for a day or so this summer so be it but I want to do it right. What product should replace the galvanized pipe and what is the proper layout for a 2 flat? Totally stupid about this but not to stupid to notice I’m beginning to have problems with this old houses water. Just want to know ahead of time so I can get it right for the next 100 years.

With a 1.5" main, I doubt the pressure loss is in it.
You can make sure whether the loss is in the main or in the house, by simply putting a pressure guage near where the main comes in and turing on some farthest away faucets full blast.
If the loss is in the main, that guage will show a significant drop.

I'm betting that old galvy is filled with minerals and rust which would explain a gradual loss over the years.
Would be best to check with the water dept. for their recommendation of your area and length of run and use their data to help in your debate.
