I’m bidding on a Veterinary Office, and they have a kennel area that they want the walls to be waterproof, because they will be washed out two or three times a day. The wall framing will be of steel studs. I was thinking of using dens-sheild tile backer with FRP panel over it, and using a urethane or butyl caulking to seal the bottom of the wall to the concrete floor.
Done anyone have a differ idea or a differ product I maybe could look at using? Thank you for your time.

I would think the dogs would scratch out the caulking. Is cement out of the question?
*this detail is usually a 4 inch solid fill block with a glazed block filler finish..look into a radiant floor for the concrete..and use a sealer on the concrete floor too..there should be standard details for kennel.. check with the american kennel association..
*Masonry with radiant. Yup from the pups!If they want it to last it seems the only way to me.I would think the floor finish and at least a good sized curb finish would be a top priority. A little education of the customer is in order. Best of luck.

Thank you gentleman for taking the time to point me in the right direction. I had not thought of a block wall. I think that detail will work great.

We use fiberglass panels for water proof wall coverings. They are industrial type, and are used in kennels, slaughterhouses, poultry houses, etc... where washing down is done many times a day.
Very easy to install, but very pricy.
Just some more info...

*In Europe, they use Grailcoat, on the walls, floors, ceilings, no matter what the substrate is....see it at http://www.grailcoat.com We have used it with great success. Use a mesh with it, and be ready to apply it when it is mixed unless you invest in the equipment to spray it. Another thought.
