We’re at the stage of waterproofing the basement now, but with the cold weather (Ohio), I’m now finding it’s too cold to apply EPDM (rubber membrane) to the block. I’m looking at other options that would be as effective. My thoughts are to apply tar and then wrap with a heavy poly sheeting, and then put up styrofoam to protect it from backfill.

Have any of you used this method?

What other methods are there that you use? This is a walkout basement, and we’re using 12″ block. The ground drains pretty well already, but this will be livable space and I’d like to do a good job.
