Anybody use this stuff? I’m looking at it for a staple-up installation and it was highly recommended by my HVAC/plumbing guy.

Greetings JonE,
This post, in response to your question, will bump the thread through the 'recent discussion' listing again.
Perhaps it will catch someones attention that can help you with advice.
Cheers
Jon,
Seeing there is no response you might want to try running you question past the JLC forum or search for an online plumbing forum.

Hunts with garlic.
Will do. You'd think a product like that from a major manufacturer would have at least ONE person on here that used it for something.
Oh well.
Thanks.

You may want to look into "the Wall" over at http://www.heatinghelp.com where Onix tubing has been discussed at length. Simply use the search function and the articles will follow. Cheers!

I too had it highly recommended by a contractor I consulted about a diy project I'm working on. I was hoping someone else who'd actually used it could comment.
Anyone?
are you going to staple this up under your floor? If so, that's a pretty weak installation method. The pipe itself seems to be good... I know many contractors that use it a lot... personally, I have reservations of using rubber as a heat transfer medium... but that's not grounded in any actual negative experience. I guess I'm just a PEX snob :D-------------------------------------

Staple up is the recommended installation for the Onix. What about this system do you feel is "weak"?
it's a limited output, high temperature system. It's fine if your loads aren't too high and you have a high temperature heat source. But for joist installed, we prefer to see plates installed to increase output and lower water temperatures, typically.depends on loads and floor coverings though.. if your loads are pretty low, staple-up can be an effective (and cost effective) choice.if it's a retro, not having to grind down nails is attractive too, though, I can understand that.-------------------------------------
