Weekend Projects – What’s Your’s?

Ted W. | Posted in General Discussion on March 11, 2006 10:53am

I’m spending part of my weekend making the square inside edges of these doors not square, by trimming them out with 3/8″ moldings. Keep the glue on the style, not the floating panel! I primed the big surfaces earlier because I was still waiting for the molding. I think they’re called glass moldings, like for holding glass or mirror in a door. I have a total of 12 doors to do, or 24 sides, or 96 copes – NOT MITERS!!!

So yep, that’s my weekend. :o)

Strapped, foamed, and hung drywall on my dining room ceiling.  Worst thing to do on a day like today,  the nicest day in 6 months in Michigan.  Wanted to be cahsing a little white ball around a field all day.

Working on my mudroom floor using some slate 12x12's. Decided it was too boring to just simply lay em' down so I cut them up to make this border first creating another two daze work...ugh. Not to mention after I start cutting the tiles up I noticed they werent all exactly the same size...so I'm bidching and moaning to Katrina and she says to me, "no wonder the salesman sold them to me so cheap". She bought these tiles probably a year ago so forget exchanging them plus I was already in action and you know how that is...

      Uhhh...ever wanna kill someone???!!

Bummer was...I checked a cpl of boxes first as usual and of course those two boxes were perfect. Murphy's Law at play I reackon....

I worked it out as usual but it was just aggrivating.

Hey, that's a nice layout Andy. You definately got your work cut out (no pun intended) for you. I hope you share some pix when it's completed. It's now after 10 so I guess I better get busy. I'd have been done with the doors I've working on yesterday, but I kept getting distracted on the internet, kinda like now. lol-----------------------------------------------------------

        Andy: beautiful work.

Nothing I appreciate more than taking nice materials and making them extraordinary.

        Like I said, beautiful work.

        Funny that you posted that.

I started a back hallway a while ago, stopped on the floor because the bathroom needed to get done first - no sense in tracking s*hit all thru the new hallway.

Bathroom is in good shape will get finished this week. Finally get back hall started yesterday. Decided on a dragon tooth border, two color, then a third color for the field. When that came up, I said to Ellen, well we just changed a one day job to three. As my assistant and I are working on it, I keep shoving him out of the way so I can do layout. It's small and there isn't enough room for me, never mind two of us. Corners aren't square, colors need to be considered, one wall is angled, four doorways, etc. He looks at the drawing I did (I call 'em funny sheets), shakes his head and just walks away.

We will use up most of the leftover tiles I have here, but with the grout, it's a three day job. Told the helper he should be ashamed of himself for what little he got done yesterday. (I ignored the fact he spent half the day opening the floor to get rid of the 2 inch hump in the corner before we could put down the tile board.) Won't bother with pictures since I can't compare to yours.

Some times you need to do it just because you need to do it your way.

As far as what's happening today, some computer, a nap, company over for a while, and out for dinner tonight. I gave myself a day off.

I kicked it last night on the couch. 52" t.v.  surround sound, bowl of ice cream as big as my head. And plenty of violence. Watched four brothers with Mark Wahlberg. Pretty good. I thought it was going to be predictable but it turned out alright.

Today I prepare for the season premier of the Sopranos. Got to go to the store and scare up some Artichokes.

It's hard out here for a pimp. When he's trying to get his money for the rent.

Today I prepare for the season premier of the Sopranos

I haven't decided whether to have my HBO turned on or not.  I like the first 3 seasons, but the last couple have been mediocre at best.  I heard they are finally going to follow up with the missing Russian story line.  Which I've been waiting for.

I had every channel available, but cancelled all the premiums a couple weeks ago.  My cable bill was $160 with my internet connection.

I'll probably call and have HBO turned back on.  I'm curious about the new show coming on after the Soprano's, I can't remember the name, but it looks pretty weird/funny.  Something about a preacher with 3 wives.Hug it out.

They kind of ticked me off with the way they are doing this season. They're showing half of it now then  waiting until winter before showing the rest. The reasoning is to make a stronger showing in the ratings. They are picking their spots.

One of my gripes about the Sopranos is the story lines that get dropped. Like the Russian. And the misleading commercials. I'm gonna give them four episodes and if I'm not happy then screw em.

I saw the commercials for that new show but I'm not getting hooked on another HBO series.

I'm on the verge of cutting off all my cable. The only thing that's holding me back is having broadband.

It's hard out here for a pimp.

I'm on the verge of cutting off all my cable. The only thing that's holding me back is having broadband.

Me too.  Between the computer, and TV, I'm not motivated to do much else.

I just got off the phone with Adelphia.  I'll be watching the Soprano's tonight.

Other than the occasional Grey's Anatomy, or Survivorman, I watch sports for the most part.Hug it out.
