For years, my wife and I have been looking for our dream home in the "magazine" plan books. We kept comming back to one plan that seemed to have everything she wanted. In January we orderd a five sets of plans. When they arrived we found out the original designer was:
Vaughn A. Lauban Designs
3918 Orchard Road
Pascagoula, MS 39581
(228) 769-7085
A net search produced this link [http://lauban.com/].
A quick check told us we could have saved almost $200 by ordering direct!! Also, as a result of ordering through a plan service (broker?)we received a lot of junk mail.
We asked the plan service about turning the garage door to the side and a couple of other small modifications to the plan. They told us we should have the plans redrawn (a service they offer for big bucks). Instead, I sent an e-mail to Lauban and they provided the details we needed.
The plans we received are very detailed. We are well into construction and have had no problems.
So, if I had it to do I would hit all of the search engines with key words like "house plans" and "blueprints" and the like.
Steve Hansen
PS, We are building #2069, a plan featured on the Lauban home page.
