What size alum-a-pole planks – siding
Is the most common setup 24′ plank/workbench and 2 poles? If you have a 40′ span do you move poles or go to 3 poles and 2 nested 20′ stages?
What seems to be a versatile combination or anyone have any preferences?

I have always used the 24" setup until recently, then I used a 28', around here the 24' setup is most common, with a 3rd pole with the necessary plank to finish. I use wood planks normally when 16' or less.
What about the poles? 24' will work good for 2 story house but what about the gable ends of 2 story house with a walk out basement. If the roof is 28 feet in the air is is ok to have a 24 foot pole with a 12 foot extension? Or is it better to buy two 18 foot ones?
24' with 12' extensions, or 6' extensions. I find 24+6 are good for most applications
Here's a great starter set:
(3) each: Jacks, workbenches, and braces.
(2) 24' x 14" pics
(2) 16' x 14" pics (or wood staging planks)
(2) 24' poles
(2) 12' extensions
(2) extension couplers
This will let you do most houses one side at a time without moving your setup around to finish a wall. You can make the two 12' poles into one 24' pole to do long walls with a three pole/two pick set up. Or you can use them to make your two 24' poles into 36' poles for gable ends.
But what I'm finding out is that although the set up above will do most everything.... you can never really have enough staging.
you can say that again!!
