Hi,
Just replaced all my old Ali single pane windows. Habitat won’t take them because they are more than 10 yr old. They’re in good shape, seems a waste to junk them. Any suggestions?

Most times, they are not worth storing because only a wealthy man can afford single pane used windows.
But I have used them for my shop and garden shed. Some people use sashes for grow covers for raised beds to extend the season.
Most often stored ones get broken before they get used, so there is a liability.
Lean them up against a tree next to the road with a FREE sign on them

How come you beat me by 2 hours, but when I posted, there was only the OP's post?
durned if I know - maybe 'cause you guys took time to think of the right words for cold frames or hot houses.

I do what Pif does; And they'll usually disappear in a day or two.
People use them for cold frames in gardens, windows for sheds and one lady who took a whole pile of old single glazed wood frame windows,, removes the glass, cleans up the frames and replaces it with the stained glass work she does....
If you do any gardening, you can use the panels for a small hot house, to start your plants early.
If you can't use them, give them away. On the roadside with a free sign is one way. You could also put an add on Craigs List (http://www.craigslist.org) but it's a real hassle when people call asking a gazillion questions. Whatever the case, there is somebody out there who would have a good use for them.

Replace the glass with mirrors and distress the sash frames, they sell like hot cakes in some whatnot shops and artsy-fartsy places.

One of my customers has a few with paintings on the 'backside' of the glass, meaning when it's hung on the wall the paint is toward the wall and you look at it through the glass. She bought them from a friend of her's. Have the distressed look and all that. I don't really care for it myself, but I gots no taste anyway.--------------------------------------------------------

That was my next suggestion. (G) They sell well too. My used to own one of those kind of artists shops, I moved enough inventory to know what sells and what got dusted each month.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

There was a young couple living in my building a few years ago, who made their living selling distressed flower boxes. Did so well they bought a house and moved. I ran into them a few months back, asked about their business. Now they're selling online and have a small store. Go figure, a little cheap lumber, old paint, some imagination sure goes a long way.
I've got everything but the imagination.--------------------------------------------------------
