Hi,
We (my family business) do land and community development projects, building, and consulting . . . I need a good source/reference for photos/renderings/profiles of trim appropriate for new construction of classical and/or traditional homes. Though I’d like a broad treatment of all interior and exterior trim applications,
‘> ‘my current pressing need is for photos or sketches of exterior trim for two homes — both of which might be described architecturally as “classical Southern”, nice but not too formal; an 1850sf two-dormer cottage with a full 8’ front porch, Doric columns, wood lap siding, heart pine floors, and metal roof,
and a 1900 sf two story with 8′ porch over porch, classical columns, wood lap siding, heart pine and tile floors, and metal roof
Websites? Books? Other?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Joel Presley

""Elements of Style""... would be a good start...
*Back issues of "Old House Journal."Also, I assume Mike means an "Elements of Style" other than the classic Strunk & White book about grammer and writing
*ok.... "The Elements of Style"...by Stephen Calloway & Elizabeth Cromley (Simon& Schuster) copyrt. 1991....
*Thanks, very much, for the help. I'm looking forward to reading/seeing it.
*I have a book,Archectctural Details, by Louis Rouillion and Charles G. Ramsey, 1924, which you might find interesting - including books of reference, moldings, doors and door details, window details, interior details - at least some of which addresses portions of your questions - I don't want to sell my copy, but if you can't find a copy on e-bay or http://www.bibliofind.com , contact me and we can discuss a loan - DOUD
*Mr. Doud,Thanks, so much. It sounds very much like what I'm looking for. I'll check alibris, bibliofind, etc. Also, thanks for the offer to discuss a loan of the book if I can't find my own copy. That's very kind; and I assure you I'd treat the book kindly and return it promptly.Cordially,Joel Presley
