I’ve been looking in the local trader magazine for a used morter mixer w/ no luck. I am a Gen. Contractor not a mason but a mixer would be handy for small jobs. Any ideas out there on where to find a good used mixer? I am in Virginia so I wouldn’t want to pay shipping from any great distance. Thanks.

I bought mine at Home depot. nice, quiet, and brand new. (anybody who buys a gas powered one is foolish!) I've saved sooo much with mine that it's paid for itself about a million times already!
Mortar mixer or cement mixer? Mortar mixers are different, different paddles etc.
A mortar mixer, IMO, is a little overkill for "small jobs" unless you're laying a lot of stone or block or brick with several masons going at it with a hod carrier to keep them going.
But if this is your need, you might try eBay if you're looking for used....sometimes a masonry supply will have a "used equipment for sale" list, as will some larger market classifieds.
If you're willing to fork over the $$$ for new, masonry supply vendors or even most building supply yards can order one for you.
Go to HD and get a new one. If it's too much, you don't need it.

Most Home Depots in the south have guys strolling around in the parking lot named Luis or Manuel, who will be glad to mix your mortar for you.
