FH has done it again! Then again, they have LOTS of company. Look at this pic, and tell me where the required island receptacle is:

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

hanging down from overhead, just out of the picture -
The point is .... appliances typically have cords less than 2 ft. long. Placing the receptacle on the side of the counter / island / peninsula is typically a poor choice, because of the risks posed by dangling cords, interference from drawers, counter overhangs, etc. In short, far too many 'works of art' lack the code required minimum receptacle(s), let alone be of good design. The problem might get some creative attention - if only the pretty ones that appear in print had some attention given to receptacle placement. Instead, folks come to expect these seamless slabs, and scream "I don't want that ugly plug!" Far too many massive counter projects abjectly fail the "toaster test-" there's no place to plug one in.
True. But plug or not, who's going to put a toaster on that island when there's a perfectly good spot to the left of the picture.'Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it' ~ Chinese proverb
leave the appliances in the garages!
or on the lift up shelves that are behind the doors.
kitchens like that usually have all sorta hiding places.

"kitchens like that usually have all sorta hiding places."......For all kinds of stuff they never intended to use in the first place.
Life doesn't often leave a very easy trail to follow.
exactly.
bet they're not concerned at all where they'd plug a toaster in at the island.

I do know islands have to have outlets but where can they be? I think code says a cord can not over hang a counter? So you mount one of those triangle surface boxes?
Lets look at what should of been done instead.Wallyo
Im sick of people protecting me from myself. If they didnt want a receptacle that there concern, not the concern of any one else. Or maybe there Amish..

Or maybe there Amish..
I think you may have hit on it!

I don't really get your question- maybe the outlet is on the front or rear of the island, not visible from this angle.
somewhere we can't see?
I've put the recepticles in the back of the top shelf of island bookshelves ...
hidden from everyone ... the owners just slide the books down and plug away.
there's usually lotsa good ways to hide them from the main focal view.

I have put them in drawers or behind a flip down panel
Also have put a full length strip under the granite overhang with a thickened bullnose to hide it.

WHY DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT BEING A SOLE PROPRIETOR IS A REAL JOB?

You guys missed them - they are located at the bottom of those SS appliance nooks set into the counter top. At the bottom each has a hole just big enough to place a standard floor mount outlet. Actually, they must be european standard, because you usually have to cut the hole mjust a little bigger.
You then place your toaster, microwave, coffeemaker, cell phone charger, etc all fit below the glass top giving an unencumbered view of the top of the counter.
Seems like a weird place to put those upside down hooked towel racks though.

If your hair looks funny, it's because God likes to scratch his nuts. You nut, you.
so where would you place a receptacle in the subject countertop?
I already asked that question no one has answered us yet.Wallyo
There's alot you cant see from that shot. The receptacles are more than likely on the side of the cabs.
Uhhh...duh!
You completely missed the point. This is a kitchen. It's not meant to be cooked in, you silly man!
There's a microwave in the corner for heating up the nightly take-out.
