I’m in need of a concrete mixer to mix batches to pour into an antique rock face CMU machine I own. I’ve got some batches of block to make this summer for a small addition to our old bungalow. In the past I’ve mixed my concrete by hand in a wheel barrel, but that is just too much work.
Being just an home owner, I need something small, portable and reasonably priced.
Any of you pros have a suggestion as to size, brand, etc? I’m hoping I might pick up something used, but wouldn’t rule out new.

pino,
stay away from used.. most masonary companies when they sell their mixers they are really past economical repair..
I bought a cheap electric unit from Home Depot for a couple hundred dollars. It's done all my stone work and a lot of the little nasty jobs involved.. I'll bet there have been two full semi's full of masonary mix and redi mix product through that one and yet I know when I touch the on button it'll keep on mixing for me.. Too valuable to get rid of.. (ps it's made in Italy of all places!)
Made in Italy, eh? So It's functional and good looking! Thanks for the insights.
I'd say be aware of it's stand. If it's on a toy stand, you'll pay for it with smaller loads. It needs to be able to unload efficiently into your wheelbarrow without making a mess. I bought a Sears about 30 years ago that worked out well.
the cheap ones are ok. even the harbor freight one too. the motor might burn out, but thats nothing.
I bought a cheapie from the big box years ago. We don't do much with them. It cost me more to assemble it.
It's still working like new.

The cheapo's the one.
Find em at garage sales from time to time.
People buy them and then they tend to sit around.
