Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Munchkin!
Oil or gas? And why between those two, they are far from the best options.
Like Imerc said, Buderus would be the best option. Depending on the requirements, if oil, the 115 or the 215. We just put in a 115 with a Mega stor indirect and the thing is nice. You can get the logomatic (computer controls) with outdoor temp readings, etc. to save even more money.
gas, these are what my hvac guy is quoting
shop around...
you can do a lot better than the offer...

If gas, check out this buderus or the similar viessmann. They will be more money but are much better and the efficiencies will pay for the difference. If you want a basic boiler, I would go with weil mcclain or burnham. The extra money for the wall mount, if you can swing it now, would be the way to go though. Fuel prices may stay the same or go up but they probably won't go down.http://www.buderus.net/OurProducts/GasFiredBoilers/GB142/tabid/92/Default.aspxhttp://www.viessmann-us.com/web/canada/ca_publish.nsf/Content/Vitodens100_ca_english

Like rob said, how many sq ft, what part of the country are you in, how is the house for insulation, windows, etc. How much heat loss do you have, will it be just for heat or hot water too.
Until you know the options and feel like you can make an informed decision, it sounds like the other answers are encouraging you to consider your options. If you can, install an hot water reset control to reset the delivered water temp based on how cold it is outside ... the colder, the hotter and vice versa ... saves a lot of energy and improves the comfort. Are you balancing the system, too? I know this sounds like commercial overkill, but many residential techniques are more and more using the metods used in commercial construction.
