You won't believe this -
My stomach makes noises
Whenever we kiss . . .
Sorry, that's no help.
Often the noise is from pipe vibration from lack of an air cushion or bladder in the lines close enough. One way to check would be to turn the water off at the main incoming line, drain all the faucets to allow some air back in the lines (in case you have some capped verticals as air cushions that are now full of water), turn it all back on, and hopefully trap some new air in the capped air cushions, if it has them.
Alternatively, Lowes and Depot have little "air-hammer arresters" that are easy to put in-line, even in the individual sink risers, I think - no cutting into the wall.
Forrest - not a plumber
"Forrest - not a plumber"That is clear, <G,D, & R>Noise is caused by something in the flow of water that is can move around and alternately block the flow and then release the flow.Depending on the size and how much it can move it can cause a slow bang, bang, to a auto fire machine gun, to a whistle sound. It is often caused by a loose washer, but if it happens with both hot and cold that is less of a probability.More likely something in common. First is to remove the aireator and clean it out and make sure that it is tight. If not that them the diverter vavle if it has a spray handle. Or dirt down in the faucet body. What you are talking about is a hammer arrestor. Those basically come into action when water flow is suddenly stopped, but the water whats to keep flowing. It will make a single bang and followed by a couple of rattles (depending how loose the pipes are). This is only a problem on valves that can quickly close. Typically soleniod valves on washers and toilet fill valve. But some of the "washer" 2 handle faucets turn off in less than 1/4 turn and you can twist them fast enough to cause hammer. One confusing thing is that sometimes a hammer arrestor on a faucet with a "loose washer" problem can change it or hide the problem. But typically all it does it change the tone of the noise or the flow rate where it starts/stops..

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Cool, but remember that "Attic Recovery" house? Their (old) master lav faucet howled. I put in two Lowes hammer arresters on hot and cold underneath the floor with Shark-Bite connectors, in about 10 minutes, and no more howl. They thought I was god - not a plumber, tho' . . .Forrest
Look at hartmanns response to Forrest, some good info there.
What kind of faucet, single or double handle, does it have a side spray?
The noise are quite common with a faulty washer which will act like a reed in a woodwind instrument, & just like any instrument until it learns how to play it will make the hair on your neck stand up ;-)
when we use the spraer, that little hose off to the side, thats when it gets louder.i have two seperate levers for hot and cold so which washer should i replace. the hot or cold or the faucet or maybey since it gets louder from the sprayer, that might need some adjustment.any idea of which.thanks.
More than likely it's a washer in the diverter assembly.
"Why do you hurt me when I do bad things to you?" My youngest son to his older brother
it's a goose neck facet with a hot and cold lever on each side. but if it ia the diverter. i would rather listen to it hummm than have to go under the sink and fuss whith it. or maybey it's the washer inside where the goose neck connects.
Don't tell me -----let me guess---------American Standard faucet.
We have a single lever AS faucet with pull out sprayer head in the kitchen which does this on a schedule of about every 2 months. Faucet is ~8 yo.
Temporary cure is to pull the aerator out and remove small, hard, white bits of unknown substance from the innards of the aerator. Faucet will be quiet for roughly two months at which time the process is repeated.
This has been going on for about a year - no white bits show up anywhere else in the house - three bathroom sinks - no bits.
City water from surface source, copper supply piping - the white bits look like calcium flakes - no clue as to source.

"- the white bits look like calcium flakes - no clue as to source."How old is your water heater?Check those "flakes" and see if they are a hard mineral or a plastic?.

Since you haven't filled out your profile, I can only guess that it was YOU that bought my old house!
I had that kitchen faucet replaced 3 times. It's a Newport Brass model I bought thru the plumber.
Something inside (probably a piece of the finish coating) - totally unaccessible, loosens up, slowing the water and bringing on a whistle.
The plumber got so pizzed about not being able to resolve it, he refused to ever return. The company replaced the unit, but wouldn't cover his labor.
Either get a new manufacturer's model, or sell the house. The Newport Brass was a POS.
As one can imagine, I would find it difficult to refer the plumber to anyone. Even though his billings to me topped 5 figures over the project...
maybey it was YOU who should not had the same plumber come back three times to fix a faucet. and i would have never sold my house over a faucet. unless you had a bad electricion to. but anyway good luck on the next contractor you hire. and your next house you buy. hope it don't have a bad faucet. happy trailes. oh and you don't have a profile. you know negative people in this forum sometimes are better off not saying aaaanything. alot of people like to joke and alot like to be critical. try not to take this personal pal, ok.
