Hi – I have a client who needs some serious window fixes. Of course there are the box store that want to replace all the windows at a huge cost (for the homeowner). I have looked at the windows myself. They are sliding windows that lock in the middle. The sashes and frames are constructed of wood and are in good shape. The frames are plumb and square. The problem is that the vinyl tracks are all messed up – bowed, cracked, and missing – and cause the windows to mis-align, leak air, and not latch. I cannot tell the manufacturer. Is there any way to order replacement tracks? It seems silly to trash the good parts of the window because of the bad tracks. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm beginning to wonder how many new window-related threads a week really need to be started.
Search, buddy. I did. You'll find all of your questions already answered.
Thanks, ole pro. So much for newbie not being afraid to ask questions. Maybe some insite into how to search for such a thread would be more productive. I actually tried to do as much and had trouble. . .
Hang in here Tuesday,Most folks around here are very accommodating. Maybe if you could post a couple photos of the windows (especially the
tracks) some one will be able to identify them and get you on the right
track, so to speak. ( try to keep pics around 100k or less )

Are these pocket windows, that slide into the wall? I've dealt with a few of those. I think I'd replace them next time, they're difficult to seal up properly.
Of course, there are reasons (historical correctness) for keeping them, but economically, it doesn't seem like it makes sense.
Can you post a picture of the windows? Someone on here might be able to ID them.
