Undermount Stainless Sinks for Laminate Counters

Karran, the same company that introduced undermount acrylic sinks for laminate counters, recently introduced stainless-steel models that undermount seamlessly in laminate countertops. The sinks are mounted and epoxied flush to the substrate before the laminate is attached. Once the laminate is in place, it is routed and filed flush to the wall of the sink so that no seam or joint can be felt. The result is a clean look without the silicone-filled voids and crevices that become bacterial breeding grounds. Karran offers about 25 different stainless models; 19 acrylic sinks, which work in essentially the same way, are also available. Stainless models average about $500 installed; acrylics are slightly less.
