Hitachi Announces Lifetime Warrantycomments (0) October 6th, 2010 in Blogs
The basics: Yesterday Hitachi Power Tools announced their new Lifetime Lithium Ion tool warranty, which protects the original purchaser of HXP Lithium Ion cordless tools against possible defects in materials and workmanship from the original purchase date.
The cool part: This warranty is retroactive and applies to Lithium Ion tools purchased since their initial launch back in August of 2006. It doesn’t matter if the tool was purchased 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago, 2-years ago, or tomorrow. As long as it’s a qualifying Lithium Ion tool from Hitachi, it’s covered. No registration or re-registration required.
Don't get confused: Tool packaging will undergo a rolling design change to reflect the new Lifetime Warranty. However in the meantime, existing packaging already produced and available for sale in the retail market may still show the 10-Year Warranty on the box. Regardless of the packaging, revised or not, the new warranty applies.
Limitations: A few tools are not included in the new warranty program. Cordless Lithium Ion Grinders, Rotary Hammers and Gas Nailers are still covered by Hitachi’s 1-year warranty. Also, the Li-ion batteries themselves are still covered for only 2 years.
