The first time I laid eyes on Trim Solutions pre-assembled casing and trim, I was intrigued. When I saw how easy the products were to install and how good they looked, I was sold.
Made from cellular PVC, these pre-assembled casings, frieze boards, water tables, and corner boards are made with integral nailing flanges, so there are no visible fasteners and no filling of screw or nail holes. Resembling a large picture frame, each window casing comes fully assembled with pocket screws and PVC cement. The four-sided frame is slipped over the installed window and nailed or screwed in place through the flange.
All the trim pieces have a receiving channel that accepts wood, fiber-cement, or vinyl siding. The inside perimeter of the assembled casings have a white vinyl, bulb-type weather strip on the inside of the frame that hides any gap between the window and the inside edge of the casing and allows the PVC trim to move seasonally. The company even routs a wide, shallow recess on the back side of the casing to provide clearance for the window’s nailing flange, so the casing fits tight to the building.
You can choose from dozens of stock profiles or you can provide Trim Solutions with elevation and detail drawings and they will make custom profiles. Corner boards, water tables, and frieze boards are shipped long and cut to length on site. Casing assemblies come ready to nail up. Four-sided assemblies start at about $150 for a 3 ft. by 4 ft. window.
