We stopped by the Marvin Windows and Doors booth at the 2015 International Builders’ Show to learn about their Next Generation Ultimate Double Hung windows.
These innovative windows boast a variety of aesthetic upgrades and also functionality improvements over the average double-hung windows on the market. Starting with the refined look of wood construction, since they don’t have the vinyl jamb liners that you would typically find in most double hungs. As for the functionality, not only do the window panes tilt in for easy cleaning, but they also have a vent mode. The vent mode leaves the bottom sash open 4 in. and locks in place to provide safety and security. It also has a self-locking mechanism that activates when the window is closed, for convenience and security. Plus, Marvin claims that you can’t beat its high performance for air and water infiltration, which is really impressive for a wood window. Lastly, combining both aesthetics and functionality, the windows have the optional upgrade of a retractable screen and built-in shades for an integrated, seamless look.
