Odds are you’ve heard the phrase “there’s app for that.” This even holds true for carpentry. If you don’t know where to start when looking for an app, or want to cut to the chase and find out which one is worth downloading, it turns out you’re in luck. Someone has done all the hard work for you. Todd Smith from Jarrimber in Australia has created an infographic he calls The Ultimate App Guide for Carpenters (scroll to the bottom of this page to view the full infographic).
As to why Todd created this, he says. “As part of my work, I like to stay informed on all aspects of content that relate to our industry. We manufacture quality solid hardwood furniture from new and recycled Jarrah, Marri & Tasmanian Oak Timber.”
In the list below, you can find links to the apps mentioned in the infographic. Fine Homebuilding has not vetted these apps and in no way endorses them or can account for their usefulness, value, or functionality.
In addition to the work that Todd has done to make life easier for carpenters, software providers have plenty of options for people in the trades. It’s a topic that comes up from time to time on FHB’s discussion forums, like this exchange on easy-to-use software for floor plan layouts.
