He started his professional life as a ceramic artist, but after moving to California in 1979, Buddy Rhodes discovered that concrete didn’t need long hours in a kiln and switched his medium. By 1986, he had mastered the art of making concrete counters and began to receive wide recognition for his work. Today, his family-run company (www.buddyrhodes.com) conducts workshops and markets decorative concrete mixes. Buddy spends his slack time on a mountain bike in the hills of Mendocino County.
