I hired a professional to install, sand and stain the 3/4 x 5″ t&g oak plank flooring I supplied. He did an OK job. There were a number of things I wish he had paid more attention to, but not one thing that I would call him back to fix.
I’m now running baseboard around all the rooms and I’m finding that the floor slopes up into the corners. This is understandable since the sanders will not get all the way into the corners. But, 1/4″ difference seems excessive. Since I’m not using shoe moulding, I need to hand plane my base board for the last 18″ at all the corners. The wood was beautiful and the fit was so good, I figured a light sanding was all that was needed. Sure seems like a waste of good wood!
Is this acceptable? Do any of you floor finishers hand scrape the corners to even things out? Any other suggestions?

Dave,
1/4" is far too much. As he sanded before the baseboards were on, the edges should be as flat as the floor --- FWIW I used an orbital palm sander to get right into the corners, the fact the edger won't reach is no reason to leave them
