I was wondering what you guys prefer in the 10 or 12 inch sliding compound double bevels who do trim carpentry with these saws. I am looking to buy a new one and and retire my old dewalt 12 inch single bevel.

All I can say is this:
I just traded up in October from the Bosch 12" CMS (which was the best miter saw I ever had) to the Bosch 12" Sliding Compound Miter Saw. If you're going to move up, move up to the best saw on the market and by buying the 12" set-up now - you know you'll never encounter the dreaded moment where you're running your 10" saw and you wish you had the 12" for that tall trim. I got a refurbished one on eBay from Toolking for under $650 including shipping (it was a "buy-it-now" deal). It comes with an 80 tooth blade and cuts straight and true right out of the box. Unbelievable tool.
I was gonna suggest the DeWalt 708 which I'm very satisfied and happy with, but now I don't think I will cause Imerc's gonna tell me again that they should only be used as a pretty boat anchor. <G>
(I still like mine real well. No complaints.)
Bosch..no lookin back, with regrets.
Go Stab yourself Ya Putz! Ya think I Parked here?
Do not suggest what you were thinking about suggesting....
Do use that DW for a boat anchor...
And go out and get the Bosch...

The Bosch fan club around here has been growing slowly. I caught myself thinking about it today. Without that saw and its features, the house I'm trimming at the moment would just plain be harder. It's a good saw.

Yeah I have to agree.
I have a Makita 10" 1013 and have used a friends new Bosh with all the controls out front. He had the old Bosh before which I thought was a good saw but not as nice as my Makita. Have to admit that the new Bosh would now be my first choice. If only my Makita would die so that a new saw purchase could be justified to the warden. Guess I will have to once again get use to second best for a while longer. Dam these durable tools.

I have a 12" Mak 1211, which is a discontinued model. I like the saw so much I just spent $200 on new parts to refurbish it, though I thought of buying the Bosch before hand. The direct drive is nice, but the single tube makes the saw a heavy monster. Whatever you do, get a decent blade. CMT, Freud, Forrest, all make good blades specifically for the SCMS. I use a full width cut blade to minimize the possiblity of vibration, but it does suck down a bit more juice.
Guys thanks for all the great responses. I was leaning towards the BOSCH or the HITACHI. I totally agree with the upfront controls of the Bosch especially for the bevel adjustment. I think Bosch has a winner with this one. It is the most costly saw but how often do you buy one.
When you need more than one... Have 4
