Hello All, I posted regarding this ‘ol house first back in ’06
thought I would update with some photos.
The first floor and one bathroom and bedroom on the second floor are done.
one stairway, one hallway three more bedrooms to go.
Right now a mason is rebuilding the west chimney from the firebox up.
The same gentleman who rebuilt the front wall of the house.
I have done all of the rest of the work myself (I did sub out the flooring)
I feel like some sculptor, chipping away at a big rock, revealing Michelangelo’s David
underneath. (some days I feel a bit differently)

Looks really good.
Was the front brick wall a complete rebuild? Did he reuse the original brick.
Yes the front wall was a total rebuild.
The original brick (baked on the property I am told) was too brittle.
The wall was bowed out about 6" at the second floor window sill.
The front wall now looks a bit too nice, we used bricks that matched the color of the old
but it looks a bit too new.
(the next 100 years will take care of that)

Very Nice.
I know that is an emormous undertaking.
My house is also 1850's vintage, wood claboard siding rather than brick, but the same classic design:
Well done! Look forward to progress photos.
We looked for a brick century home for a long time but had no luck. Finally found an 1837 place with a few acres that we couldn't resist so....
Ours hadn't been lived in in 5 years but it was really solid. Yours looks like it started at a bit more primitive stage but you seem to have it down. Heads up. Where is it located?
Been at this for 20 yerar and wouldn't trade the experience for anything./
ciao, ted.
Looks great, my question is that it probably has/had asbestos and lead paint, what'd you do about those?
