I have a Standard Devoro two piece toilet that needs a new fill valve. The tank lid is stamped May 21 1926 F4082 166. The current valve is a Cesco brass valve, I think a Burlington Model 20, with the arm and plastic float ball. Can this be replaced with a Fluid Master type of valve with the sliding collar float? Thanks in advance for your help.

I do not know, but it ought to work if the hole for the valve is in the bottom left of the tank and is about 1" diameter. The height on a retrofit Fluidmaster valve is adjustable. I did a toilet from 1917 once. It is amazing how far back things were standardized.

You can use just about any universal fill valve on these- the flush valves are a different story (must use a "Douglas" style brass flush valve). I have a "Standard" wall mounted tank toilet from 1927 and have replaced the fill valve with a universal fill valve with no float from home depot (sorry- can't remember the brand off hand..). http://www.DEABATH.com has harder to find repair parts like spuds and flush valves.
My Standard brand two piece toilet is a little newer, I think around 1935, but I had no problems installing a Fluidmaster valve.
Thanks for the quick responses. Looks like plastic is going into that tank.
