Anyone no anything about these compressors with two motors on them. I remember finehomebuilding did a story on them i few years back. they were basically a portable compressor thta had 2 pumps and 2 motors on them so you could plug each one into a different circuit. If anyone knows anyhting about them let me know thanks.

Exactly as you said. Beats me why it's better than two independant compressors since all the expensive stuff is duplicated.
Beer was created so carpenters wouldn't rule the world.
Only person who I think would consider that a good idea would be Tim the tool man.
just for grins.......this one may be a little bit larger than the one in the article. But it meets your description

They have a lot of those in the mechanical rooms of the university where I am. A compressor can put out twice as much with two compressors and two motors. The size of wire for each motor would be smaller than with one larger compressor requiring a larger motor. Smaller compressors and smaller motors are cheaper. When one would break down you still have the other working.
I guess you could get more capacity that way - With 2 motors at 15 amps each running their own compressors.
But if you need that much capacity, I wonder if 2 separate compressors would be beter anyway - So you could use them at 2 different locations if you wanted to.
