I want running water at my boathouse…. the boat house is aprox 150ft from the water supply 75ft of which will be underground and 75 attached to the bottom of the pier/dock that goes to the boathouse… we don’t get that much really cold weather but enough to freeze & bust most pipes … would pex be a good choice?… it’s no problem to cut the water off when not in use… but the low point in the run will be the part underground… so no real way to drain it plus since i let many people use the place it needs to be fool proof…
thanks

PEX can't be exposed to UV.
Black (and it see that it is now available in other colors) can be exposed. But I don't know now freeze "resistant" that it is. I have a shallow PE line the pumps irriagtion water up from my dock. But I blow it down each year, but some water still stays in the low loop, but that is different than your case where it will probably be mostly full.
I have not worked with pex, but wonder about it resistance to rock, etc in the dirt.
What about installing some PE (say 1 1/2) as conduit and then the run PEX in that. That will protect the PEX from both UV and rocks.
