3600 sf covered for $120 out of pocket
Not counting the slab… But I just finished my covered parking structure (trimmed it today) and I have spent exactly $120.00 dollars $60 for 3/4″ x 5.5″ redheads to bolt the posts to the slab… and $60 for 1200 self drilling #14 rubber washer screws for the roof… everything else i pulled from “inventory” 14 round metal posts 10 were 5″ 3/8″ wall with 5/8″ plate bottoms… 4 were 7″ round 3/8″ wall with 3/4″ plate bottoms… on top of these every other one (4)is a wide flange 8″ I beam then i used 8″ channels for the other 3 I boxed them where they sat on the posts with more 8″ channel… then on top of these I used a heavy gauge 8″ Z perlin 60″ o/c I used some 1/2″ cold rolled steel rod welded to keep everything spaced and true (think blocking) to which the sheet metal roof was screwed… I got the frame and posts up… (all welded and bolted) and since most had been sitting around for a few years… I pressure washed everything the next day I mixed up 6 gallons of industrial enamel (reds browns & one grey) got and kept as much water on the slab as i could to catch the spray fall and drips.. then with my airless sprayer (titan 440 with a 6ft wand) I sprayed everything… except the posts… I came back a rolled the top 2/3rd of the posts an off white cream color… and the bottom 1/3 a bright ford tractor red… if someone can’t see that…then they need to hit the posts… took 2.5 days to get all the metal roofing up ( i purchased the roofing at least 15 years ago at an auction… 2ft tall stack 37.5″ wide and 16ft long… never counted the sheets but my 4000lb forlift would not pick up the stack… my 6000lb one would… think they call it “barn master” 5 ribs and 2 creases in the 4 flats not a real heavy gauge… used 5/8″ J track to trim the end edges…
btw it looks pretty dang nice… 6 bays @28ft per bay… the posts are 10ft apart make’n the beams cantilever 5ft each end of the posts.. this moves the posts inward to keep them from getting hit plus I cocked them 3ft front to back so all the parking is on an angle you pull in to park and pull out the other side to leave… no backing up & out… just one way traffic… stalls look like this 3 parking spaces per “stall” stalls are 28ft o/c making each “space” just over 9ft wide… 18″ of fall in 21.5ft of roof
not bad for $120 out of pocket 🙂 plus i guess it’s “green” because all the material i used was “reused” the roof was new material but it would have gone to scrap since it came from an overturned truck insurance deal… the posts came from 2 different buildings i took down as did the beams and the perlins… ( i left off $40 for a spool of MIG wire but i still have most of it)

Where are the pics?
If we asked your wife do you think she would notice any difference in the size of your 'inventory'?
She doesn't have any idea how many warehouses he has, never mind inventory, lol.
ponytl don't do pictures
gotta use your imagination. I think it looks great!
(but, it would be nice if'n someone could get some pics)
$120 huh? As long as your time is free could you please come over to my house? I'm being nice here. If I really wanted to take advantage I'd ask you to my job site.

Pony, is that the $40 roll of wire from HF?
How is it? Good enuff? Flux core or just wire?

Guess I misremembered. Thought you had said you had bought some from HF to try out.
I haven't bought any in a long time so I know I'm gonna be surprised when I do.
BrownB is right, inflation is everywhere.
Gov sez not though, no COL increase next year cuz there is no inflation?
Whoda thought?
