Hello All,
I’m looking for an opinion on 5/16″ solid hardwood for an upcoming job. The wood is BR-111 Tiete Chestnut (sucupira). I’m worrried about stability and such of the floor. I know that engineered is an option and so is the full 3/4″. All the wood we ever install is 3/4″. Because of being thinner and the wood is an exotic, it gets the price down comparably to a 3/4″ oak.
Any opinions?

Nobody's used 5/16" hardwood?
Edited to add:
OK, just read the install instructions and they said to install over 6 mil poly. I have never heard of this. We've always installed over #15 felt. Instructions say that felt is not an acceptable moisture barrier. Any opinions or anybody done this? It makes sense to help avoid cupping.
