Good morning to all,
I have a question I know you can help me with.
It’s time to buy a 5 beam laser and my question is , what can you tell me about the PLS 5 vs. Porter Cable’s RT 7610-5.
I already know ‘you get what you pay for’, but as in the world of cars and trucks, I don’t need a Benz and I don’t want a Hyundai, just a good reliable Ford.
The PLS-5 is at $380 vs. the PC RT7610-5 at $180.
Is the PC a good reliable Ford or is it what my mechanic friends call a ‘yard car’.
Thanks, Rosy

I have replaced my Robotoolz (Porte Cable bought them a few years ago) with the PLS-5x. My original Robotoolz 5 beam used a free swinging gyro and it stuck in a out of level position. They would look at it and possibly fix it for a minimum charge of $119. However there was no guarantee that they could fix it or what the total cost would be.
Robotoolz had changed there design and now used a motorized leveling system. I decided to go with the PLS for durability. I ordered mine from amazon taking avantage of free shipping and a fathers day sale. I am quite happy with mine and look forward to adding a PLS 2 to it.

Adam, check out the PLS2E, suitable for exterior use. PLS has graciously donated a 2E for test and giveaway at this years Breaktime Fest. I've dealt directly with them over the past couple years and am amazed at the "old style" way they run a business. I have been very satisfied with the PLS2. That they made a donation to our group here is beyond what I had expected. Good product and a good company to deal with.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Here's another thought. If you don't mind used, check out ebay for PLS-5. Think I paid $225 for one there. Had someone's initials engraved in it, but works fine.

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
we have and love the PLS-5X
the X is for exterior use, you use a laser receiver outdoors
fantastic tool
i would not buy the PLS-5
you can't see the beam on a sunny day
and it's sunny pretty often
the X is more money, but well worth it.
porter cable laser ?
no way.
