Hello. I’m sure most of you have read my other Hardi questions but here is another question on the layout.
If I do the 6 1/4″ reveal on the siding I will come up 1 1/2 inches short between the top edge of the siding and the soffitt, this area will have trim anyway so I can cover the gap.
If I use a 6 3/8 reveal then I won’t have any gap between the top of the highest row of siding and the bottom of the soffitt. Is it okay to use a reveal other than what the specs. say? The specs. say that the siding must overlap by a min. of 1 1/4″ but a 6 1/4 reveal overlaps by 1 3/4 so theoretically I have a 1/2″ to play with. Is this correct?
Should I just stick with the 6 1/4″ reveal?
Thanks

It is 3 am where I am, so I might be wrong, don't think so, but 1/8 ain't hurt that siding any!
I agree with frammer. An 1/8" won't matter.
And of course, if anyone questions, you could simply say that you were using the black diamonds on the tape measure!

the only probem with too much overlap is,it makes the lower edge stick out a little to far.
1/8 of a inch won't matter,if you was ovelapping maybe 2.5 inches it would start sticking out a little bit.
on my siding, kept everything level, but when we got to the top on the garage ,it was going to take a 2" strip. so i took a pc of 12" cut it at 9"so it would finish the row without a small strip. your eye cannot pick up that the top row is wider. being 10' off the ground helps hide it also

Thanks fellas.
