I ran into an old family friend who does homes and sells plans. On that great subject of windows he said he started 20 years ago with wood, which rotted, then went to clad wood, which would develop a crack and the wood would get wet under the cladding and then rot.
He says he now specs only fiberglass and mentioned Windsor (is that a line or a manufacturer, and weathershield but maybe these were the problem windows) from looking at their sites they seem to be the wood and clad wood people.
Any experiences with these? Who makes fiberglass windows?

weathershield has been nothing but heartaches for me
i have lots of customers with 30 year old clad Andersen..... still look great... no signs of deterioration
of course... proper flashing and installation helps a lot too
Andersen & Marvin both have a line of fiberglass composite windows
I have experience with weathershield and it wasn't good.
Never again with Weathershield
