I’m re-roofing an older cabin that currently has no insulation at all. We’re considering cutting 4″ rigid poly-iso insulation to fit into the 24″ chases between the 2X6 rafters. Generally I’ve only seen rigid insulation placed on the top of the roof decking. Will putting the insulation below the decking, like we’re planning to do, affect “warm roof” perfomance? Of course we’ll use a vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation.
Thanks for the input.
