The last reference book I have (had… loaned it to someone) was the 96 UBC. Is there a good reference on the IRC? And, where to order it? I’ve got the urge to add one to the library. If you have one you like, lemme know.

Just buy the IRC. It's pretty simple to read.

Other people can talk about how to expand the destiny of mankind. I just want to talk about how to fix a motorcycle. I think that what I have to say has more lasting value. --Robert M. Pirsig
These codebooks are hard to chase down, but here's my source:
http://www.BuildingTechBooks.com
or: 1-800-ASK BOOK
This is in Beaverton, Oregon and they'll have the Oregon specialty addendums, but if you call them, they may be able to direct you to the nearest codebook source near you.
Andy's right, buy the book itself. It's pretty straight forward, except for every diagram is on NOT the page that refers to it.
Mine's got enuff yellow postits sticking out to look like a bird nest, and it's exciting reading too.

IRC here is only 40 bucks, course there's a whole lot of deletions<G> Don't worry, we can fix that later!
Try your State Depatment of Housing Building and Construction, or whatever it is called in your state.
I ordered mine off the state web site (KY) in 2002, the first year it was adopted. They automatically sent me the revisions/corrections for the first year free. subsequent years I check the web site for addition, revisions and corrections, and order as needed.
The March issue of JLC has an add for the 2004 IRC for $60 and another expanded version for $80. I'll post the link when I figure out where I layed the darn thing down (CRS is insideous).
