Hi folks – My first time to this forum. (You all were referred to me by folks on a wooden boat forum, BTW.) I’m redoing a bathroom in my home and am considering wainscoting. There is already existing 1/2″ drywall. My question is this: does the wainscoting typically “float” on top of the drywall, or do you remove the drywall so and attach the boards directly to the studs so that the drywall and wainscot are flush to each other? Seems if you “float” it over the existing wall board, then there is the matter of dealing with matching to the existing trim.
Thanks.
Jeff
