I know we can debate for hours over Tyvek vs. felt paper however, I have quick question concerning the two of them. When I pulled the existing Masonite “Siding” (ie. compressed dust) we have felt over the sheathing. Of course some of it was damaged in removal but most is still intact. Is there anything wrong with just putting tyvek right over the felt paper?
And yes I will be removing all of the compressed dust siding in the near future…I realize how awful that stuff is.
Thanks in advance

Not necessarily, but you can install sections of building paper pretty simply to patch the problems you describe. Of course, if youre looking to lessen the windwashing characteristics of your existing structure, the addition of the air retarder may help.
