Last year i bought a new 3 ton goodman central heat and air unit. I am just getting around to installing it and wondered if anyone knew of a good resource for AC installation instruction.
Cheers,

By considering things like energy-efficient mechanicals, window orientation, and renewable energy sources, homes can be evaluated to meet the energy codes. Here's what the IRC has to say.

There is an online dealer of Goodman products, and I believe they have a video. I think they were in Indiana or Kentucky but I'm not positive. I lost all my bookmarks when I got a new laptop, but if you search enough on the web, you should be able to find them. You might start looking at these two:

http://www.heatingandcoolingstore.com/
Also look at DESCO's site or their ebay site for info.
I assume you bought a 'package' rather than 'split system'. Even having to ask the question if you bought a split system is scary. If you don't have all the equipment, count on at least $500 worth of second hand tools needed to do a split installation (gauges, recover pump/tank, vacuum pump, oxy-acetylene, Nitrogen bottle, thermocouples, etc. , EPA license test, etc. )
I second your fears.Installing a split system is not for beginners. Granted, if you've been a HVAC tech all your life, have the tools, certifications, etc... oh right, you wouldn't be asking that question!Fact is, unless the connections are brazed, a tight vacuum pulled, etc. that the refrigerant will be contaminated with the remnants of flux, oxygen, and moisture. Even if you install a strainer, the system life and performance will be compromised.Perhaps this is the reason that Goodman specifically excludes internet-purchased systems from their warranty coverage. I'd do the same thing if I were them...
