I’d like some advice on how to add onto an
existing house that has a 15-yr. old 2×6 wood
foundation wall and a gravel footing. Wood
foundation wall extends approx. 48 in. below grade
(Michigan location, frost line is 42 in. below
grade). The addition’s foundation would join
mid-wall with the existing construction–would NOT
connect at the corners of the existing house.
If the addition had a more conventional reinf.
conc. spread footing and CMU or conc. foundation
wall, how would this be joined to the existing
wood foundation & gravel footing?
I’d appreciate any feedback ASAP!

I cant' see any special thing that needs to be done. jUst make sure that the addition footing is sitting on virgin soil.
