Addition to Existing Cantilevered Wall
I am in the early planning stage of an addition to my kitchen. The current external wall is cantilevered two feet from the foundation. What would be the best way to design an addition to this wall? Could I pour the addition foundation underneath the cantilevered wall?

New joists have to sit on foundation wall.
Remove existing Rim joist and run new joists to existing wall.
Thanks catmandeux. That makes a lot of sense. What about the sides? Do I try to pour the new foundation under the existing wall and run the mud sill to the existing foundation?
If the foundation side will be directly under the end joists of the overhang and is the same height as the existing foundation, you won't be able to install the sill over a J bolt under the overhang. You can use an epoxy anchored bolts for the sill that is under the existing overhang.
Or, If you have the ground clearance, you can step down the foundation under the overhang and use a short cripple wall or triple sill in that area,
