I am going to be constructing a deck utilizing the new ACQ PT Lumber for the Deck Beam Posts. My question is concerning what type of Adjustable Post Bases to use. I have read about some extreme corrosion problems utilizing the Simpson Z-Max Post Bases. These are priced at about $12/each vs. the Stainless Steel versions which run at about $55/each. At more than 4x’s the cost. I’m not sure if the extra measure is necessary. One person indicated to me that they noticed the Z-Max post bases showing signs of rust after only two weeks.
I need to construct 13 Posts and am concerned that if I don’t utilize the Stainless Steel versions I may need to replace the posts in 5-10 years.
Does anyone have any experience with the weathering of the bases with the new PT Lumber?
Thank you!

Darn!
You're gonna make me crawl under that deck tomorrow and look at all the ones I put in a couple of months ago aren't you? I sure hope it ain't muddy.

We've been using the Z-Max Post Bases w/ the new ACQ since May (5 decks and a screen porch) and I haven't observed any corrosion issues with the bases. Two weeks ago we framed deck across the pond from the first deck we built this year and I walked over to check out all the ACQ rated fasteners, flashing, hangers, etc. and all looked good. We'll see how things look after a Minnesota winter...
YMMV
