Adjusting floor level between 2 rooms
The concrete slab in the family room is 3/4″ lower than the framed floor in adjoining dining room. A 6 foot wide arched entry is between both rooms. I want to carpet continuously between the two rooms with no noticeable change in floor levels. What should I use on the slab to gradually ramp up to the framed floor? There is old vinyl tile on the slab now (covered with carpet) and an 8″ wide oak threshold at the transition which I want to eliminate. Floor leveling cement is just that and too soupy and probably won’t work. Suggestions?

You can try using "Dricore". I used it a couple years ago and it worked out fine and still looks great. It does meausre 7/8" though.

Professional carpet installers have large scale shims that make the transition smooth.
