Seeing how I am not running a full scale cabinetry operation, I can’t see shelling out the major $$$ for the Plywood Planner software.
But a similar low cost program might be worth it.
Any one know of a low cost (<100$) program that will optimize plywood usage.
With the current pply prices it may be wise to get one for framing and sheathing!!
BTW this past weekend we were at Blowes and Home Cheapo(Pricing a new Microwave!!) and just out of curiosity I checked the ply prices:
3/4 t&g -34$
3/4 A/B Birch – 39$
Some body out there is gonna have a house with REALLY nice sub-floors!!!!

I've been using Sheet Layout 7 on those jobs where the most efficient layout on a bunch of sheets is more than my noggin wants to deal with. It does the job well enough.
Version 8 out now.........7 may be a freebie. Check with the "older versions" link. Maybe it will suffice for your needs.

Was at HD the other day, OSB, 15.69, 1/2 CDX 15.99
now that just ain't right.
"Was at home depot the other day, OSB $15.69 and 1/2 inch CDX $15.99...now that aint right..."
Hey CAG.
Right now most guys would kill to get those prices. My local lumberyard is TOTALLY OUT OF ALL PLYWOOD AND OSB STOCK! I bought some 5/8 OSB at another location...paid $22.80 per sheet. Paid $28.80 for 3/4 CDX! Talk about thievery! AND, these prices were best to be had. Other lumberyards wanted $34 for the OSB and $38 for the CDX.
Explanation given was our government bought something like 1,000 railroad cars full of plywood goods and shipped all to Iraq. Soooo, now we are the ones out in the cold. Piss poor government handling if you ask me.

It's not so much the prices but the fact that CDX was only 30 cents more than osb that I found surprising.
what part of the country are you in?
