O K one & all
I’m renovating what could be a 108 yr olde porch
the deck is beautiful 5 / 4 X 3 plus “s VG fir and there are numerous coats of paint aboard – alligator type & areas I’ll be taking down to clear wood
went to the store thinking I would retire my 30 plus yr olde Rockwell 3 X 21 and get a new belt sander but arrived upon a 7″ grinder & bought the sanding adaptor & that thing rocks but either the EPA is gonna come or they’ll be kicking me out of the hood due to unbelievable dusting of local environs
I have finest Bosch & good Porter Cable to hook up to my vacuum but those do not cut the mustard like this unit
Any ideas on what could deliver besides floor edger ?
Festool or their brethren have something of this ilk?
many thanks, john

You can try this Festool rotary sander:

Apparently it's the cats pajamas in going through multi-layered paint, but it's not as great at dust containment as their other sanders.
If you want almost dust free sanding, this is what you want to be driving:

Don't go without the vac system though, that's really what makes these shine.
they do
Probably closest to what you're looking for would be the 6" rotex, and the CT22 vac. Its the smallest one that comes HEPA. And they have a wide paper selection to fit.

I'll be doing my research
I'd use Silent Stripper and follow up with a direct drive Bosch RO sander then a AEG RO sander.
The silent stripper goes quickly on flat work like your floor.
Or after the Silent Stripper I'd rent a U-Sand.

In our town, unless you were using the paint shaver or similar (Metabo) with vacuum attachment it would be illegal to remove (presumably lead-bearing paint) that way.

OFF TOPIC--John, you emailed a while back about insurance. The email you have attached to your Breaktime profile is nonworking. If you're still interested in my carrier get ahold of me.
thanks all for input
leaning Festool & probably 4 1/2 "
seems a bit more dedicated to my use and pricing better than that 6" but do like the notion that the bigger one will be more useful in more varied applications
Can't get around silent stripper at this point & the u sand tool just does not have the aggression w/ double G i'm looking for although I've only used it on white oak
and Jeff that is why I'm asking
