HI All,
I need to get another compressor. I’ve had the DeWalt D55155 and liked just about everything about it except it really b lew a lot of rucsty water. I live in an arid region and even with multiple drainings per day it still would ruin a stain grade project if you went to hose it off. Now I gathered it was due to a small hose between regulators and outlet that just dipped down pretty far and acted as a tarp for moisture. The one I looked at today is
much straighter shot with less of a trap..almost no dip on the one I looked at. I’m wondering if recent buyers of this compressor are having better luck.
In leiu of that I have my eye on a Rol-Air D1500HPV5 ( I think) which has similar specs to the DW only it’s a 2 as compared to the 2.75 DW. It’s a double tank and perhaps it has better luck with condesation.
I really like the esign of the DW but also understand they have sold the EmGlo name again and perhaps the entire compressor business to Jenn-Air? Not sure but anyone know what the hot portable compressor for $250-$300 is?
Thanks,
Warren

the Campbell Hausfeld ain't too bad..belive it or not they all are pretty much the same..hence the class action law suit that covered ALL ratings as to HP vs. power draw..they were all lies..given that info. it seems that there are FEW separate entities involved..save some bucks, buy a campbell, and replace it when it dies..my current one is going on about 10,000 hrs.

Look into Rolaire. 2hp, oil bath, 7 gal, good specs, reliable fer years...

WOW!!! What a Ride!
7 Gallon I expect will wiegh too much and be a bit unwieldy. I looked the Rol-Air "The Bull" which has a great price to spec ratio but it a bit all.
All and all I love the design of the DeWalt and am curious if they will continue it or it will be improved or discontiniued.
Thanks so far!!

Mid thirty pound range.
Rolaire makes 2 gallon to 2,000 gallon. I used mine for over 20 years before it was stollen.

porter cable has a 4 1/2 gallon with wheels and a handle like on a suitcase, with two air outlets and protected regulator and pressure switch that makes 6cfpm at 90 psi for 298.00 at slowes, it is a great compressor for the money, look for how much air they make at 90 psi instead of horsepower.
Rol-air is Rol-air and PC is Cambell Housefield...
They (R-A) list theirs at 5.3 free air at 100psi and R-A doesn't have a class action suit against them and it's not likely the the PC will out last the R-A... Maybe two or three will but not one on one..
Look at all of it... The company and manufacturer behind the product too....

Since on the subject of air compressors....
I was looking to buy a small air compressor......no smaller.
I am many times a one man crew. I have a 2hp/4gal Hitachi but wanted a smaller unit for trim jobs. You know, those trim jobs that are 300 feet from the truck and up two stories or in the basement. My Hitachi weighs 60 lbs. but I was looking at some like the PC, Senco, and older model Hitachi that weigh in from 20-40 lbs.
The sencos are the models I am most interested in; (1hp,1gal) or (1hp,1.5gal)
What do you think?
I have a 1 gal 1 horse Senco. It's fine for brads. It has a hard time keeping up with a 15g finish nailer, though. It would probably do better with a short 1/4" hose...
It is really easy to carry around, though.
the Senco is pretty darn handy for small trim work - heck, your wife can carry it for you and you can communicate in a normal speaking voice while it's running - which is quite a bit foe anything other than 18 guage brads.
I just bought the Rol-Air 20 gal belt driven model. Can't wait to try it. I'm in the middle of moving. I'll leave feed back on it in a few months.
I had an oilless emglo awhile ago but got to much sand and ruined the head.
So I bought a 2 hp hitachi oil lubed. works great but runs a lot with 2 framers going.I use it mainly for trim or small jobs. I got worried it would burn up because we using 3 framers on day and it never stopped,so i went and bought a thirty gallon 6 peak hp crapmen uhhhh craftsmen because it was lighter than the rest i tried to move .I wanted the husky belt driven but it was about 60 lbs heavier but im sure it was quieter. i leave the big one on the job and carry the little one around with me.
just another day in paradise
