Am building a new “green” house (non toxic) and am interested in using air krete insulation. Does anyone have any info or experence with it. How well it goes on and how well it stands up over time.

We also looked into AirKrete not to long ago. I found very little information that was not industry driven. The following site is the only place that is still valid that deals at all with AirKrete.

I am in canada and there was only one place selling the stuff in Ontario. That company did not recommend the use of it do to cost and difficulty of getting to the Yukon and installed by anyone who know anything.
Sorry I can't be more help.
*Hi Earl, We are in the ICF business. We felt Air Krete would be a perfect fit with concrete homes. We contacted the company and the 2 or 3 installers of the material. The product has been on the market for about 10 years. They have an excellent product but have not been able to capture any market share. The franchise owners did not say anything bad about the home office but there was a definite undercurrent of disatisfaction. Air Krete seems to be like so many of these franchise construction materials companies. They want people to pay for the privledge of developing a market for their product. If history is a guide to the future most owners will spend many years and dollars to make the franchise profitable with no protection from the home office cutting up the territory they have worked so hard to develope. Go to the Air Krete web site and contact the dealers. I think there are only 2 left and only 1 that is doing any substancial volume with the product. Sorry I don't remember which one it was it's been over a year since we contacted them. Good luck.www.airkrete.com
*earl w. for some information on Air Krete see page 431 of my boo, Complete building construction, 4th Edition published by Macmillan.Air-Krete is amnufactured by Palmer Insdustries, Inc 800-545--7383. Their Web page is under constructionh and their URL will be http://www.palmerindustriesinc.com )one word all lower case.) GeneL._
*.. i talked to a very nice guy at Palmer on Saturday at the number lsited by GeneL..they've got good coverage in the temperate areas as far north as New York City... if you're a Greenbuilder, this is a great product, but ya gotta get it installed by a franchisee or become one yourself.....strengths are good insulation (3.9 / inch), lowest toxicity , no vermin support, lowest flame spread, weakness, ya gotta know what you're doing or hire someone to install it, temperature sensitive during installation...
*you might want to try a new concrete product that comes in the form of long blocks (10'x15"x32") or 2-4" thick walls.its great insulating value derives from its composition-- 80% styrene (bead board foam). No ozone depleting CFCs.try intergrid building systemspo box 5298berkeley, ca 94705510 845 [email protected] plan on using the 4" stuff underneath a slab that will have radiant heating. Far superior to the bubble wrap now being used.
