Hello-
I am planning on installing a standing seam roof on top of SIP Panels that have benn covered with Roof Guard II….the question is does there need to be air space, this is in Upstate NY.
In addition, the siding (Pine Clapboard) will be strapped out and back primmed….the sill has an extention on it….what are your thoughts about drilling holes vertically inthe sill to allow more air flow?
Thanks-

We have a similar roof but with blown in icyene insulation. The roofers have told us that they will go right over the roofguard.
As for your window sill, I would keep it intact. Water entering those holes would be a greater problem than lack of air flow.
I live south of Plattsburgh, ny. I think it is allways best to strap, add an air space with any metal roof. The condensation, frost that buids up on then has a place to drain off the metal decreasing the chance or rust. When using fastners it also allows the preferd 1" hold for maximum blow of strength.
