I need some feedback on airless sprayers for housepainting. After speaking with salespeople, I am considering a Spraytech 2105 for about $895. I will be painting a large stucco building exterior, a shiplap siding house exterior, and two house interiors. All paint will be acrylic latex. My major concerns are avoiding a heavy “sprayed” look on the old shiplap siding, and probably more importantly, avoiding downtime unplugging poorly designed sprayer tips (I’d rather be building furniture….). I have done airbrush painting years ago, so I understand how technique can affect this and I plan on spraying my shop to get my chops up. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Just got a titan 440 for 800 including shipping and it works real well. Local stores wanted 300 more for it. Make sure someone local has parts and can service whichever one you get. There is roller called the scroller at http://www.painttrix.com that Ive been thinking about getting to help with painting sideing and things. A good website for painting advice is http://www.paintstore.com Cant remember where I got my sprayer but if you are interested e mail me and Ill look it up. I try to buy stuff local when I can but the paint stores here arent giving me good enough service to rate the extra 300 bucks.
*Airless sprayers are great. I have a wagner but it dosn't have the power to spray thick paints (ie Pratt and Lambert). I got a lot of "tailing" and had to back roll. Don't skimp on the horespower!! Even with the wagner, I never had a clogged tip. If you are going to stop for a short time, take a damp rag and wrap it around the gun. Then take a plastic bag and wrap it over the rag. This will work for overnight if you are continuing a job and can leave (safely) your equipment. One thing I noticed is that even when spraying flat paint, the finish is a little glossy. Have you ever seen that? I guess that's why my painting buddies always backroll.
