I’m adding on to a seventy year old house that has smooth full 3/4″ bevel cedar siding. I got a price of $2.00 per foot for 1 x 8 siding to match existing. Does anybody have any suggestions for possible alternatives that might closely match existing but less expensive. I heard of a Georgia Pacific compposite wood product but I understand thay had some problems and took it off the market. The cement based products carried locally are only 5/16″ thick. I should mention there is a chimney separating old siding from new so I can handle a small difference in thickness but I dopn’t want to go below 5/8″.
Thanks,
Tim Mowry
